System Retrofit

Written by GreenSketch

System Retrofit is designed for homeowners who already have an existing solar system and are looking to upgrade or enhance their current setup. It provides a dedicated workflow to support retrofit scenarios, enabling you to design and present tailored upgrade solutions such as additional panels, battery integration, and system optimization. With System Retrofit, you can efficiently evaluate existing installations and deliver comprehensive proposals.

Note: Most features and workflows in System Retrofit are identical to those in New System Design. For shared functionality, please refer to the New System Design guide. This section covers only the features that are unique to System Retrofit.

Feature Overview

1. Project Overview (Energy Plan & Tariffs)

Compared with New System Design, the System Retrofit workflow includes an additional field in Energy Plan & Tariffs called Existing Solar System.

This section enables you to input the homeowner’s existing solar system information. By capturing the current setup, GreenSketch can generate a clear before-and-after comparison, helping homeowners better understand the upgrade value and improving conversion rates.

2. Design

When entering the Design stage, you will be directed to the Battery design page by default.

  • Battery

Battery Strategy has been added to this page. The previous Join VPP module in New System Design is now included as part of Battery Strategy.

By clicking the blue icon and selecting Battery Strategy, you can access three available strategies: Maximize Self-consumption, Additional Revenue, and Backup & Reliability. These strategies are designed to support different homeowner objectives and maximize their benefits.

  • Panel

(1) A pop-up for you to edit existing solar data:

When entering the Panel stage in System Retrofit, a pop-up will appear to allow you to review and update the existing solar data.

If Existing PV (estimated) has not been filled in under Energy Plan & Tariffs in the first step, this pop-up will be triggered automatically. You can click [Change Existing Solar] to modify the Existing PV (estimated) data if needed. If the info has been completed, the pop-up will not be displayed.

(2) The data display on the right side of the Panel is divided into three sections:

  • Existing Solar: This section displays Annual Solar Production, Self-Consumption Rate, and Annual Solar Sent to Grid.

  • Added Solar (formerly the Solar Panels module in System Design, now renamed as Added Solar): Since the operation process is the same as in System Design, you can refer directly to the New System Design section for detailed instructions.

  • Combined Solar: After completing the Added Solar section, the system will automatically generate Total Production, Self-Consumption, and Energy to Grid for your reference.

3. Proposal

In System Retrofit, the Proposal has been enhanced with additional visual charts to provide a more comprehensive and intuitive project overview. These charts provide a clear and structured view of key project data, improving transparency and making system performance and financial outcomes easier to understand and compare.

The updated Proposal now includes the following sections: System Value Breakdown, Bill Comparison, Energy Flow, Added PV, 20-Year Expenses, Monthly Profile, and System & Product Information.
